Rambling random recitations

Kilkenny Writers Group presented these random acts of poetry on the main square, the Parade, as part of Arts Week in August 2011.  Filmed during the weekly Farmers’ Market the poets are reading their work in the shadow of Kilkenny Castle.  It was wonderful to hear poetry among people going about their daily business, many paused and listened, perhaps you might do the same?

All are offered freely and it is my hope that you, dear reader, will gain something by browsing here and that I in turn will gain something by presenting these works to you.

  1. What a grand idea, Kevin. It would be lovely to start something like that here – there is a sad lack of poetry in rural France. But at a “repas” in a village Salle de Fêtes there is always an impromptu singsong, usually started by one of the oldies (my generation!).

Do you do poetry bombing as well – leaving poems in unexpected places such as tucked into the bananas in the supermarket or with the magazines in a docctor’s waiting room? Most of my poetry is in English, so I write some in French to leave about.

    1. Poetry bombing! That’s a great idea, yes I have done something like that, as for la poesie dans le France ruraux start your own group, flyers dans la hypermarche, l’eglise and so on, pick a cafe, away you go. I believe if you build it they will come. Now you have me developing ideas around Poetry Bombing!!
